Airstream Trailer Miniature Succulent Garden
When you have a die-cast vehicle to showcase, you can create your landscape around a driveway.
Succulents are easy to work with and care for – you can ignore them more than any other plant. Give them plenty of sun. Water when completely dry (and you can even let it stay dry for quite a bit). They can handle heat well. If there is frost or freezing temperatures, keep the garden inside in a well lit window. When you want to create more succulents, most will propagate by simply breaking off a piece and sticking it in the ground – with no root stimulator necessary. This is also great when a piece of a cactus breaks off accidentally (awww!) and you get a whole new plant from it (yay!).
Cactus replanting tip: use heavy duty gardening gloves or use a piece of rolled newspaper folded around the plant to lift it and place it in its new home.
Love fairy gardens!!
Love this! So cute and creative. Will have to see if I can make one for my mother who is more and more homebound. Grandchildren would love it also!
Where can the miniature trailer be found?
I’m in contact with the company who may be putting it back into production, but for now you can search on ebay for Diecast Airstream.
I’m going to launch a Kickstarter later this week and one of my reward levels includes the Aluminum Airstream-style Trailer. If you’re on my mailing list, you’ll get notice when the Kickstarter launches.
What about the cute flamingo? Where can I find him?
Try finding them at the party store or on ebay. When I needed another one, I made it from polymer clay.
I’m also going to be giving away a bunch to my mailing list next month. Sign up and stay tuned.
May I ask what the scale is of the miniature trailer? I searched on ebay for a “diecast airstream” and found a bunch that are a 1:64 scale but I have no idea what that means! My husband and I lived in a trailer on the beach together for 3 summers when we were dating and so I’ve been wanting to make a trailer garden in memory of our special place. 🙂
The one I use is 1:18 (one inch = 18 inches), which goes well enough with dollhouse accessories that are 1:12 (one inch = 12 inches). The ones you found that are 1:64 are Hot Wheels size.
Ah! Thank you for the distinction! I would have been surprised! 🙂
Can I ask how large your container is? Sorry for all of the questions…. I never comment online but all of your things are so beautiful!
The container is about 18″ across.

Hi Julie,
You may want to see my Kickstarter campaign – my book will be full of resources list for the plants used and info on where to buy all the accessories I use in my gardens. And check the reward levels for the trailer.
